In use the cheeks lie against the horse’s face, enabling enhanced requests during turning. The mouthpiece slides slightly on the curved central bar. Reins may be used on the main ring, or on the lower, smaller loop for a mild lever effect. The Vulcanite offers some cushioning but care should be taken to ensure the mouth can comfortably accommodate a thicker mouthpiece.
